PowerShell commands follow a Verb-Noun semantic with a set of parameters.

Mapping for Bash Equivalent commands

The table below lists the usage of some basic commands to help you get started on PowerShell faster. Note that all bash commands should continue working on PowerShell session.

Aliases

Use Get-Alias to fetch the a list of aliases in the environment. Use Get-Alias to get details of a specific alias. alias is also a built in alias to Get-Alias.

Creating a file

New-Item touches a new file at -Path

PS: C:\\Users\\Alex> New-Item A.txt
PS: C:\\Users\\Alex> echo "Some text" > B.txt

Listing files and folders

ls is aliased to Get-ChildItem .

PS: C:\\Users\\Alex> Get-ChildItem -Path C:\\”Program files”

Grep

PS: C:\\Users\\Alex> grep -Rin "sometext" --include="*.cs"
